Union Metal Industries was brought back to life after being shuttered and leaving more than 350 United Steelworkers unemployed. A unique partnership between the City of Canton, State of Ohio, United Steel Workers, Dorset Partners and investor American Industrial Acquisition Corp (AIAC) teamed up to take on recalcitrant bank and other interests to restart this 113 year old factory in the heart of Canton Ohio. This rare partnership, creative approach and dramatic results garnered what is said to be the first ever unanimous TMA Turnaround of the Year Award in any category.
